Tequila 100 Anos(TM) Celebrates Mexico in '100 Years of Mexican Music'
with the most important figures of Mexican music from the last century
DEERFIELD, Ill., June 24 -- The exhibit "100 Years of
Mexican Music", sponsored by Tequila 100 Anos(TM), continues to celebrate
Mexico and its music with a unique exhibit that gathers singers,
songwriters, and performers who contributed to make memories and leave a
footprint on both Mexico's history and world history. Beginning June 24,
adult, legal purchase age Latinos in Chicago will enjoy a free historic
tour where talent and a love for Mexico -- values shared by both Mexican
music and Tequila, the most popular Mexican drink -- meet.
"The '100 Years of Mexican Music' exhibit comes to Chicago after its
Houston success that attracted personalities from the General Consulate of
Mexico, politicians representatives, teachers, entrepreneurs, etc. We are
proud to bring to the city a valuable exhibit that represents the immensely
rich Mexican culture that -- just like Tequila 100 Anos -- is inspired by
its roots and created with the passion and dedication of its people. It's a
way to show our gratitude to the community together with Tequila 100 Anos
which -- along with Mexican music had acquired a traditional value
recognized by Mexicans around the country," says Antonio Portillo, Brand
Manager for Tequila 100 Anos.
Embracing the unique atmosphere of 1907 to 2007, original pictures of
performers such as Agustin Lara, Pedro Infante, Lola Beltran, Los Lobos,
Angelica Maria, among others, will be on exhibit for one month, beginning
June 24 in Chicago; and July 30 in Los Angeles.
"This is a unique opportunity in Chicago so its residents can learn and
appreciate closely the cultural richness of the country represented by its
more representative artists from diverse music genres," says Steven Loza,
Professor of Ethnomusicology at UCLA, Adjunct Professor of Music at the
University of New Mexico, and curator and spokesman of the exhibition.
"100 Years of Mexican Music" may be appreciated at the Ford City Mall
in Chicago, Ill; and in Los Angeles, Calif. at Plaza Mexico.

Tatum O'Neal arrested on drug charge
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oscar-winner Tatum O'Neal, the former
child actress who chronicled her struggles with addiction in a
2004 memoir, has been arrested on suspicion of buying drugs on
the streets of New York City.
A judge released her on her own recognizance on Monday
after she spent the night in jail and she was ordered to return
on July 28. O'Neal, 44, appeared without makeup, her hair tied
into a messy bun, wearing a black tank top and black pants.
O'Neal, who was charged with criminal possession of a
controlled substance, rejected a deal that would have sentenced
her to a two-day drug treatment program in exchange for a
guilty plea for disorderly conduct, prosecutors said.
She will enter a plea at her July court date.
The New York Daily News reported she was caught buying
crack cocaine from a homeless street vendor on Sunday night
three blocks from her home.
A police spokesman said she was seen buying a controlled
substance from a man in Manhattan's Lower East Side, once a
crime-infested neighborhood that has become trendy.
O'Neal's publicist declined to comment and her lawyer left
the courtroom without speaking to reporters.
The Daily News, citing unnamed police sources, reported
that O'Neal first told police she was "doing research for a
part" and changed her story after police searched her and found
a bag of crack, a bag of regular cocaine and an unused crack
pipe.

Delinquent Habits formed in Los Angeles in 1991. The group was one of the low Latino hip-hop acts of the Apostles, mixing English, Spanish, and Spanglish lyrics together. Delinquent Habits consists of rappers Kemo (David L.K. Thomas), Ives (Ivan S. Martin), and O.G. Style (Alejandro R. Martinez). Upstart criminal record label PMP released the group's self-titled debut Delinquent Habits in 1996. The album, executive-produced by Cypress Hill's Sen Dog, combined obscure funk with traditional Latin rhythms and sold an amazing 350,000 copies in the U.S. and over one meg worldwide. The unmarried, "Tres Delinquents," moving 450,000 copies, charted in hip-hop as well as pop and R&B. Their second album, Here Come the Horns, was ready for sack when PMP went out of business in 1998. This album may be one of the undiscovered gems of the rap genre as it features an appearance by the late knocker Big Punisher. Gay Go Round, their third album, was picked up by Miles Copeland's Ark 21 label afterwards ab initio existence released by the circle. Delinquent Habits has performed on national TV including appearances on NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien, Yo! MTV Raps, and La Hora Lunatica With Huberto Luna. The radical toured with pat artists like the Fugees, metal acts like Korn, and bikers like Beck, rapping as far aside from home as Europe, South American, and Asia.

50 Cent ordered to forfeit guns
Rapper 50 Cent has been ordered to surrender any guns he might have after a judge issued a temporary restraining order requested by the rapper's ex-girlfriend, lawyers said.
A lawyer for the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, said he would contest the order and that 50 Cent did not have guns or access to guns.
"To my knowledge, he has no guns," said lawyer Brett Kimmel.
The order bars 50 Cent from being in contact with Shaniqua Tompkins, the mother of his 10-year-old son, without the court's permission, lawyers said.
50 Cent and Tompkins have been locked in a legal fight over money. Tompkins has argued that she is entitled to half of 50 Cent's estate, based on an oral agreement.
The dispute escalated last month after a fire destroyed the rapper's $US2.4 million Long Island home, where Tompkins lived with their son.
Police said they were investigating the fire as suspicious.
The Stamford, Connecticut-based rapper has denied any involvement in the fire and separately filed a $US20 million defamation lawsuit in a Connecticut Superior Court against Tompkins for statements she made to the media.
"It's completely baseless and it's retaliatory," Tompkins' lawyer, Paul Catsandonis, said of the defamation suit.
"It's nothing more than an attempt to rehabilitate his image."
Since his debut album in 2003, 50 Cent has built a business with a record label, a clothing and footwear line, ringtones and video games.
He has also starred in a movie based on his life, Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

Oscar nominee Julie Christie weds
CBS News correspondent Sheila MacVicar reported that the 66-year-old secretly wed journalist Duncan Campbell in a small, private ceremony.
Christie's brother Clive Christie confirmed to the UK's Daily Mail newspaper that the wedding had taken place, but that he did not attend the event two months ago.
The actress once said: "I don't see any reason for getting married unless you're religious, which I'm not."
Commenting on the newly married couple, columnist Neal Sean said: "He's very studious, very educated and she's always been about broadening her mind, her appeal, that sort of stuff."
Christie is among the nominees for this month's Oscars for her return to cinema screens as an Alzheimer's sufferer in the film 'Away from Her'.
She has already won Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and National Board of Review awards in the US for her performance.
The actress previously won an Oscar for the John Schlesinger film 'Darling', before turning her back on Hollywood in the 1970s.
"Julie Christie is something of a recluse, not just from life itself but basically from the whole sort of Hollywood shebang as it were," said columnist Sean.
